tuve mi pelo rojo por más de 6 años y mis amigos me llama rojo. Tengo 27 años, soy cosplayer, cosmaker,
youtuber y gamer de Tijuana Baja California, no profesional pero me encanta lo
que hago, soy ingeniero de desarrollo de software y tengo un trabajo a tiempo
completo.
Can you tell us who you are and
what you do?
Sure!
Well my name is Liliana but I go by Red Lilly, that’s my cosplayer name. Honestly I
don’t think is very
creative haha but I had my hair red for more than 6 years and my friends calls
me Red. I’m 27 years old, I’m a cosplayer, cosmaker, youtuber
and gamer from Tijuana Baja California, not professional yet but I really love
what I do, I’m a software developer
engineer and I have a full time job.

How does it feel to have the
affection of thousands of fans around the world?
Never
thought about it to be honest. It’s not something I was really looking for when I started
but I’m glad that people is
liking what I do. There’s a lot of good and bad
things about having affection from fans around the world, it could be sweet or
frustrating depending on the fascination of the fan I had both great and bad
experiences so far, overall my main goal is to share what I love with the world
and hopefully inspire and help others.

How did you get started in the
world of Cosplay? How long have you been in this hobby?
I’m very new! I can’t believe everything grew so
quickly. I started cosplay last year, August 2016 to be more specific so that’s roughly 9 months ago!

Yes!
A lot! Ginny Di, Kimpatsu Cosplay, Kamui Cosplay, Leon Chiro, Enji Night,
Azulette Cosplay, Nadyasonika, Alyson Tabbitha, Jessica Nigri and I’m very sure I’m missing some, they’re my inspiration and role models.
I also admire local cosplayers such as Namitsuki, Linda Miku Cosplay, Ganny x
Hasu cosplay, Gareki Cosplay, Kike’s Cosplay again I’m very sure I’m missing a lot! I think that
every cosplayer has her/his own signature in what they do and I admire that

What would you say to the girls
who want to cosplay , but dare not because of embarrassment or they do not feel
beautiful ?
DO
IT! You shouldn’t be embarrassed,
people will always talk there’s no way to go around
it, you should always do the best on everything you work on. You don’t need to be an expert all you
need is to set your mind and you’ll find a lot of friends that can help you along the
way, if you feel comfortable with your cosplay, if you like the character and
you really want to feel what’s is like to be that
character for at least one day, believe me is totally worth it!
¿Qué consejo le daría a todas aquellas personas que hacen cosplay

What advice would you give to all
those people who do cosplay for fear of 'what people say'?
Ignore
them, like I said on my previous question, you will not make people happy, even
if you did and extraordinary cosplay they’ll always say things the best you
can do is simply ignore them, all that matters is if you liked your cosplay and
you worked so hard on it regardless of that people said.

Do you do the cosplays all by
yourself or you buy them? Some of them seem to really have a lot of work. There
is someone to help you do?
I
made 85% of my cosplays, the other 10% was custom made when I didn’t know anything about sewing, the
reminder 5% was the amazing keyblade that I friend of mine made for me. Yes,
there’s a lot of work on
every cosplay but that’s the beauty of it, the
challenge to make it look as closest possible to the original character;
however, I’ll like to point out
that being a cosplayer doesn’t make you less than
being a cosmaker but you must be completely sure which one you feel more
comfortable with because being a cosmaker is a lot of work! What I believe is
not cool is to say that you’re a cosmaker when you
are truly a cosplayer. When I started I had a lot of help from youtube
tutorials from Kamui Cosplay, Kinpatsu cosplay, Ginny Di and many more, after
getting to know the local cosplay community I had a lot of help from local
cosplayers, I can’t thank them enough.

cosplay?
On
my first Halloween haha! I always used the excuse of this festivity to wear a

¿Cuál es el cosplay más complejo
que has hecho hasta ahora?
Aqua de Kingdom Hearts: Nacimiento por sueño, aunque
parece ser un cosplay muy fácil, hay muchos detalles en los que trabajé muy duro, sólo para
aclarar que Keyblade fue hecho por un muy querido amigo mío, esto es

What is the most complex cosplay
you've done so far?
Aqua
from Kingdom Hearts: Birth by sleep, even though it seems to be a very easy
cosplay, there’s a lot of details that
I worked on very hard, just to clarify the Keyblade was made by a very dear
friend of mine, this is just the start! I want to be better on every cosplay so
I’m very sure I’ll work on more complex cosplays
in a near future

characterize in the future?
I
have a very long list! I’ll love to share the
list but I prefer the element of surprise but I can tell you my favorite anime,
movies, series, videogames to give you an idea! One Piece, Neon Genesis
Evangelion, Dragon Ball, Attack on Titan, Fairy Tail, Sailor Moon, Kingdom
Hearts, Final Fantasy, The Legend of Zelda, Alice: Madness Returns, Metroid,
League of Legends, Resident Evil, Street Fighter, King of Fighters, Nier:
Automata, Star Wars, EVERY DISNEY PRINCESS MOVIE! Haha (sorry), Spiderman,
Batman, X-men and the list goes on and on and on………………………….. I hope this gives you an idea
on what I’m planning for the
future.

sobre la sexualización de sus cosplays?
Es un tema muy delicado, hay muchos conceptos erróneos sobre
el uso de un cosplay sexualizado, no estoy en contra, siempre y cuando el
personaje original ya está sexualizado, en otras palabras, no me gusta cuando cosplayers
sexualizan un cosplay cuando El personaje original no es así, por

What do you think about the
criticism about the sexualization of your cosplays?
That
is a very delicate subject, there are a lot of misconceptions about wearing a
sexualized cosplay, I’m not against it as
long as the original character is already sexualized, in other words, I don’t like when cosplayers sexualize a
cosplay when the original character is not like that, for example, a sexy snow
white or a sexy Pikachu, unfortunately a lot of cosplayers thinks that showing
more skin is better, or they can be famous quicker but in a way I get it
because the entire world likes that, they prefer a sexy snow white than an accurate
and complex princess dress, I honestly think that the world should change their
idea on what cosplay really means in order to change what cosplayers think is
better than simply sexualizing their cosplay, therefore there’s a lot of work to do!
¿Cuáles son tus materiales favoritos para trabajar y cuáles son
los más difíciles? ¿Tienes una historia que quieras compartir con
nosotros?
Los materiales favoritos son espuma de EVA, cemento de
contacto, pistola de pegamento caliente, pintura acrílica, y
worbla prácticamente
todo haha. Me resulta más difícil trabajar con EVA comparado con worbla porque tienes que hacer un
montón de arena
en él, pero es
barato y para ser honesta mucho tiempo tienes que ahorrar mucho dinero para
lograr un buen cosplay, worbla es Más fácil de
manipular pero es muy caro! Mmmm no estoy seguro si tengo una historia para
compartir ... ..nop No tengo nada lo siento (*u*)
What are your favorite materials
to work and what are the most difficult? You have a story you want to share
with us?
Favorite
materials are EVA foam, contact cement, hot glue gun, acrylic paint, and worbla
pretty much everything haha. I find it more difficult to work with EVA compare
to worbla because you have to do a lot of sanding on it but it’s cheap and being honest a lot of
the time you have to save a lot of money to achieve a good cosplay, worbla is
easier to manipulate but is very expensive! Mmmm not sure if I have a story to
share…..nop I got nothing

¿Qué pasa con el maquillaje y el cabello? Debemos tomar
mucho tiempo para prepararnos, ¿verdad? Para cosplay fue más difícil?
Sí se tarda tiempo, pero sólo la primera vez, con el tiempo te conviertes en un profesional de
preparación
yourselve para la convención! Pero comparar casual con cosplay que toma mucho tiempo. La parte más difícil de mí y
probablemente es sólo yo, se estaba utilizando las lentes de contacto, todavía recuerdo
la primera vez que estaba probando mis lentes de contacto para Misty cosplay,
me tomó más de media
hora para poner uno de ellos en ¡mi ojo! Yo estaba llorando como un bebé que estaba muy
frustrado, pero con el tiempo he aprendido a poner y ahora a veces ni siquiera
necesita un espejo. Maquillarse aún tengo mucho que aprender, Alyson Tabbitha es increíble!
Realmente quiero aprender a hacer mi maquillaje como ella. Estilizar una peluca
es un reto, puedes comprar la peluca que necesitas para tu cosplay o puedes
aprender a diseñarla para ahorrar dinero pero hay un montón de desafíos que
tienes que superar para hacerlo, de nuevo no me considero un profesional En el
maquillaje o pelucas de estilo, porque todavía estoy aprendiendo,
pero estoy seguro de poner un montón de esfuerzo en cada proyecto de cosplay!
What
about makeup and hair? We must take a long time to prepare, right? For cosplay
it was more difficult?
Yes
it does take time but only the first time, eventually you become a pro
preparing yourselve for the convention! But comparing casual with cosplay it
does take a lot of time. The most difficult part of me and probably it’s just me, it was getting use to
contact lenses, I still remember the first time I was trying my contact lenses
for Misty cosplay, it took me more than half an hour to put one of them on my
eye! I was crying like a baby I was super frustrated but with time I learned to
put them on and now sometimes I don’t even need a mirror. Make up well I still have a lot
to learn, Alyson Tabbitha are amazing! I really want to learn to do my makeup
like her. Styling a wig is a challenge, you can buy the wig you need for your
cosplay or you can learn to style it to save money but there’s a lot of challenges you have to
overcome to do it, again I don’t consider myself a pro
on either makeup or styling wigs because I’m still learning but I sure put a
lot of effort on each cosplay project!
